Comic Reviews with The Comic Bubble – Week of 3/2

Welcome back to another weekly roundup of Ice’s comic reviews! Comics for this week: Black Widow #1 and Old Man Logan #3!

The Comic Bubble: The Black Rock Comic Crawl

So Friday night of the Connecticut ComiCONN had a crawl put together called “Black Rock Comic Crawl.” The night’s event was put together by Zombie Leader, and had a group of guys start out at Rogue Comics and go from one place to the next, all with the added bonus of actor Brian O’Halloran joining in on the fun. I got to meet Brian and take a photo with him, which was a huge highlight of the night for me.

The Comic Bubble: Connecticut ComiCONN Photo Show

Connecticut ComiCONN recently passed through the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT (during August 15th-17th) and here are photos I took during the event. If you’d like to attend future events, keep an eye out on their Facebook page and follow them on Twitter.

The Comic Bubble: The Connecticut ComiCONN Experience!

“Connecticut ComiCONN: A show for the fans, by the fans!” That’s the slogan for the Connecticut ComiCONN show, and let me tell you this: it’s 100% true. This isn’t a huge show in the sense of New York or San Diego Comic Con, which sets it apart. And that’s just fine because for a ‘smaller’ convention, it was still packed with everything fans could and would want. It absolutely had that feeling of “for the fans, by the fans.”

The Comic Bubble: Celebrating Doctor Who Day.

On July 26th, 2014, it was “Doctor Who Day”, celebrating the two new ongoing series from Titan Comics based on the 10th Doctor (played by David Tennant on the BBC series) and the 11th Doctor (played by Matt Smith). I stopped by my local comic shop, Rogue Comics, and took pictures of some customers as they ‘became’ the 10th or 11th Doctor, and even joined in myself. Wait, there’s more! The Comic Bubble: Diamond Retailer Summit News

Last weekend, Diamond had their annual retailer summit in Las Vegas and earlier this week a few big announcements were made. Just about all of them, save one, was for Marvel comics, but still pretty interesting tidbits.

The Comic Bubble: Breaking down the big C2E2 news.

Last weekend Chicago had the annual C2E2 convention and not many things were revealed, in terms of “big news” by most companies there. It was your standard “this is what’s going on,” but nothing really “OMG YOU GUYS” level. Discussions on what’s already shown in past solicitations and reveals. For example, the ‘biggest’ news DC really dropped was that Joker will be returning as Snyder has a part 2 to what he has planned with him, though it will be some time before that story comes along.

The Comic Bubble: Digital Comics – Taking over singles or sidekick to them?

Over the last couple years digital versions of comic books have become more and more prominent and a lot more people are reading them in that format. With the help of sites/apps like ComiXology and Marvel Unlimited, to name a couple examples, you can read current and old comics alike on the computer or on your smartphone/devices. With the ever-growing like and use of this format, there are those who worry that it will take over completely and physical copies will be the way of the past.
