If you’re anything like me then the gameplay trailer for Splinter Cell: Blacklist left you salivating and promoted Blacklist to your must have list for this year. If that’s the case then you’re likely interested in what bonuses you’ll receive for pre-ordering. Every pre-order comes with the Echelon Pack which includes gold sonar goggles, the Upper Echelon Suit and a Dead Coast Co-Op Mission, while individual retailers have their own pre-order exclusives.
The first trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins multiplayer mode has been released. The trailer starts off pretty standard with a 3 on 3 death match between the Joker and his gang against Bane and his. It looks like pretty standard fare until they revealed that there’s a 3rd group in the mix, Batman and Robin!
If you’ve ever found yourself engaged in “sports” (I haven’t myself but I’ve heard whispers of such recreational activities), then you’ve likely experienced a player, quite possibly yourself, accidentally doing something favorable for the opposite team. After being showered with a hail of laughter and scorn, the opposing team is likely to quip that said action has granted you the status of the “best the player on their team”. Much like a cliche Disney movie, where the kid who’s trying to fit in blows it big time when he scores the game winning point for the other team, Don Mattrick personified that role with the Xbox ONE’s ‘always online’ fiasco.
Evolution 2013 is finally upon us, and with it comes fierce competition. As hundreds of competitors from around the world show up for the most anticipated fighting game tournament of the year, I’ve taken liberties of running through a few choice brackets from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Easily the most anticipated game game to watch at the tournament, UMVC3 attracts some of the fiercest competitors. But it also means we’ll have some unsavory brackets in store. I’ve compiled a list of what I believe to be the brackets to watch early on in the competition.
I admittedly was only moderately excited for GTA V until I watched this trailer. Oddly enough it’s not all that exciting of a trailer, instead it felt more like a documentary with its straight forward narration. In spite of that, GTA V actually looks damn exciting and it’s clear that Rockstar learned from the short comings of GTA IV.
Several gaming sites reported that Hideo Kojima was looking for a development team to remake Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 using the new FOX Engine. I’m not typically one to get excited about remakes but these were definitely remakes that I was unbelievably excited for. Unfortunately, the announcement was made in error, due to a mistranslation. Hideo Kojima came out recently and squashed the rumors. He explained via Twitter that; “There’s a rumor about remaking MGS1+2, but that’s not true. It has been modified in the thread or something.”
I find it more than a bit ironic that the reactions people were having to the Xbox One were more or less how I had expected people to react when Microsoft first decided to enter the console market. Instead, the first Xbox was surprisingly a damn good system and gave the PS2 a run for its money. Likewise, the Xbox 360 has had a solid run, capitalizing on the missteps of the PS3. If I were keeping score in the console wars, I’d say Microsoft and Sony are 1 and 1, with PS2 trumping the Xbox and the Xbox 360 trumping the PS3.
‘Free-to-Play’, which has become a main stay of MMOs over the years, is now making in roads into fighting games. With the release of Tekken Revolution, Namco Bandai has become the first developer with a major fighting game franchise to try the ‘Free-to-Play’ format.
