Season 4 of Game of Thrones is still nearly two months away, thankfully the old gods and the new have kindly granted us a nearly 15 minute long teaser of what’s to come. If you’ve read the books you know the “Purple Wedding” is sure to satisfy! If you haven’t read the books, I envy you, because you’ll get to experience everything form the latter half of A Storm of Swords for the first time!
This deleted scene was originally shown exclusively to those who were lucky enough to attend the Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con. A month or so later we thankfully have the opportunity to see what they were treated to. The scene features Tywin Lannister in a rare moment of leisure: he’s enjoying some fishing when he’s approached by Grand Maester Pycelle, who’s attempting to get placed back on the Small Council.
Liv Tyler. HBO. Damon Lindelof. Two out of three of these are things which I absolutely adore. The third is the manifestation of good ideas marred by lazy writing. That manifestation goes by the name of Damon Lindelof. Ah yes, Damon Lindelof, the same man who brought us Lost and Prometheus. Hell even Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk. Remember how that started off so awesome and then took years to finish only for the latter half of the series to be remarkably lackluster? Yeah, me too.
Game of Thrones producer Frank Doelger recently told Radio Times that if the gods will it, The Old Gods and the New, then the HBO Game of Thrones series will end with season seven. Doelger explained that the number of seasons is still being discussed but he hopes that “if we all survive, and if the audience stays with us we’ll probably get through to seven seasons.”
Winter is Coming. That is, unless you live in Texas, then winter is fleeting. But I digress. Season 3 brings with it the hope that Joffrey will be force fed the pointy end of a sword. His equally vile mother, Cersei Lannister, bleeding out would be a suitable substitute if we’re not treated to that gem. If neither of these outcomes happen then hopefully we’ll at least get to see Arya blossom into a bad ass or maybe Ser Jorah Mormont will get some from Daenerys. Regardless of what happens this Season, at least we know that Tyrion Lannister will continue being too awesome for words.
